Gurugram's New 700-Bed Hospital Promises Enhanced Healthcare Access and Emergency Services

In a significant development aimed at bolstering healthcare services in Gurugram, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini convened a review meeting on December 25 to assess the ongoing construction of a new 700-bed civil hospital in the region. This ambitious project represents a critical investment in public health infrastructure, reflecting the government's commitment to improving healthcare access for residents. During the meeting, Sudhir Rajpal, Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department, provided an update on the construction status. The hospital, set to be constructed on 7.73 acres of land in Civil Lines, is projected to cost approximately Rs 990 crore. It will feature a modern 13-storey building, which includes a basement and a total of 11 floors dedicated to patient care. Noteworthy among the hospital's planned facilities are 60 ICU beds, 12 operation theatres, and an emergency helipad, which will significantly enhance the region's emergency response capabilities. The design aims not only to address current healthcare needs but also to accommodate future demands as Gurugram continues to grow. In an effort to optimize the space available for the hospital, Rajpal mentioned the presence of a nearby government school occupying nearly 1.5 acres. The Chief Minister suggested relocating the school to a more suitable 2.5-acre plot owned by the Education Department, which lies across the road. This move would facilitate the expansion of the hospital's footprint and improve overall public access to healthcare facilities. During the review, Saini emphasized the importance of adhering to the project timeline, instructing officials to ensure that all arrangements align with the agreed schedule. He acknowledged the necessity for the hospital to be equipped to meet the evolving medical needs of Gurugram's population. Furthermore, he recommended that the new school building, proposed by the Education Department, be designed as a multi-story facility to maximize space efficiency. The Chief Minister also underscored the importance of the school remaining operational in its current location until the new building is completed, ensuring continuity in education for local children. This meeting saw the presence of several notable figures, including Union Minister of State Rao Inderjit Singh, Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao, and various other state officials and MLAs, all of whom are instrumental in pushing this critical healthcare initiative forward.
