The urgency of the situation was underscored by recent incidents where fresh forest fires broke out near significant localities, including a blaze near the Sub-District Hospital in Gundoh and another in the Dhandal area of Kishtwar. Local resident Javeed Ahmed reported that the fire in Dhandal was spreading rapidly, completely engulfing vast swathes of precious forest cover, including hundreds of Deodar and pine trees. As the region continues to battle these destructive fires, the call for greater community involvement and awareness has never been more pressing.
