In a remarkable display of community spirit and collective effort, P&A Group, headquartered in Mold, has surpassed its ambitious charity fundraising target for 2024, donating an extraordinary £18,800 to Mind North East Wales. This achievement, nearly double the company's original goal of £10,000, highlights the dedication and commitment of employees from P&A’s three divisions: P&A Pallets, The Woodworks Garden Centre, and Zest Outdoor Living Garden Products. The cheque was presented during the company’s festive Christmas celebrations, a moment described by Managing Director Andrew Baker as "one of the most special moments of our company's Christmas celebration." His pride in the team’s accomplishment was palpable, as he stated, "We couldn't be prouder of what we've achieved together as a team." In a spirit of giving that extended beyond this impressive donation, P&A Group also contributed an additional £2,000 to Shelter Cymru. This amount was raised through the thoughtful decision of employees who opted to forgo their personal Christmas gifts, redirecting their generosity towards supporting vulnerable individuals served by Shelter Cymru. The substantial sum raised for Mind North East Wales was the culmination of numerous initiatives throughout the year that showcased the diverse talents and interests of the P&A workforce. From participating in significant sporting events like the Manchester Marathon and the Chester 10K to the daring feat of a 150-foot abseil down Liverpool Cathedral, employees came together to push their limits for a worthy cause. Additionally, community-centric activities, including quiz nights, cake bakes, and raffles, contributed significantly to the fundraising efforts. Mr. Baker emphasized the collective nature of this success, stating, "Every member of our team, alongside our families, friends, and customers, played a crucial role in helping us achieve this success." He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the fundraising team leaders and all employees who undertook personal challenges to support mental health initiatives. The commitment to mental health awareness is a driving force for P&A Group. Mr. Baker noted, "Raising awareness of mental health is just as important to us as the funds we've raised. Giving back to our community is a cornerstone of what we do, and we're honoured to support Mind North East Wales in their essential work." With nearly £175,000 raised for various charitable organizations over the past 14 years, P&A Group is looking forward to its 40th anniversary in 2025, setting a new goal of raising a total of £200,000 by the end of the milestone year. Mind North East Wales plays a vital role in the local community, providing essential mental health services, including telephone counselling, emotional support, and online resources, to residents across Flintshire and Wrexham. P&A Group’s charitable history includes support for notable organizations such as Dementia UK, British Heart Foundation, and Alder Hey Children's Hospital, demonstrating a longstanding commitment to making a positive impact.
