In a tragic incident in Dinajpur's Birganj Upazila, two individuals lost their lives following a severe collision between a motorcycle and a truck. The accident, which occurred early on Friday morning around 8:30 am on the Dinajpur-Panchagarh highway, has left the community in shock and mourning. The victims, identified as Madhab Roy, 24, and Dipu Roy, 30, were residents of Mashalpur village in Chirirbandar Upazila. The pair was returning home from Nargun Khejurbagan in Thakurgaon when their motorcycle collided head-on with a truck, according to Sergeant Sheikh Arefin Imrose. Eyewitness accounts suggest that the impact of the crash was catastrophic. Authorities reported that Madhab Roy tragically died at the scene of the accident. His companion, Dipu Roy, sustained critical injuries and was promptly transported to the Birganj Upazila Health Complex by personnel from the Fire Service. Despite medical efforts, Dipu succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival at the hospital. Local residents were quick to assist in the aftermath of the accident, helping law enforcement officers to detain the truck involved. However, the driver and an accomplice managed to escape the scene before law enforcement could apprehend them. Abdul Gafur, chief of Birganj Police Station, confirmed that police are currently conducting an investigation and preparing legal proceedings against those responsible for the fatal collision. The heart-wrenching loss of Madhab and Dipu has left their families and the local community devastated. As investigations continue, this incident raises broader concerns about road safety and the urgent need for stricter regulations to prevent such tragedies in the future. Community members are calling for increased awareness around road safety and for measures to be implemented to protect vulnerable road users, such as motorcyclists, from reckless driving practices. The Dinajpur-Panchagarh highway, a busy thoroughfare, has seen its share of accidents, and this latest incident underscores the need for collective action to safeguard lives. As the community comes together to mourn the loss of two promising young men, there is a pressing call to action for improved road safety measures that could potentially save lives in the future.
