In a proactive step towards fostering a healthier campus environment, the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) recently organized a two-day health screening and awareness camp focused on non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Collaborating with the University Health Centre, this initiative, part of the IUST-PURSE project, aimed to illuminate the growing concern of NCDs and evaluate their prevalence among the university community. The event attracted a diverse mix of participants, including faculty members, non-teaching staff, security personnel, scholars, and students, reflecting the university's commitment to holistic health awareness. Over the course of the two days, attendees underwent comprehensive health screenings, with blood samples collected for further analysis. This hands-on approach not only provided critical health assessments but also served as an educational platform. Health education sessions were integral to the camp, equipping participants with essential knowledge regarding the prevention and management of NCDs. These diseases, which include conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and certain cancers, are a significant public health challenge globally. The rise in NCD prevalence is often attributed to lifestyle choices, making awareness campaigns like this one crucial in mitigating risks. By prioritizing health education and screening, IUST is taking meaningful strides toward addressing the health concerns of its community. The initiative not only encourages individuals to take charge of their health but also fosters a culture of wellness within the university. As non-communicable diseases continue to pose a threat to populations worldwide, awareness and preventive measures become imperative. Through collaborations and initiatives like the health camp, IUST is setting a commendable example of how educational institutions can contribute to public health efforts. The university's commitment to addressing these pressing health issues may inspire similar actions in other institutions, ultimately leading to a healthier society as a whole.
