On April 5th, Marcelino Abad Tolentino celebrated his astonishing 124 years of life, becoming the oldest man in all of Peru and possibly, the world. Despite not having any known relatives, the community of Huánuco has come together in a touching way to show their love and appreciation towards this venerable elderly man. Officials from the Pension 65 program of the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (MIDIS) coordinated a special celebration to recognize the significance of this milestone in Marcelino Abad Tolentino's life. Affectionately known as "Mashico," this long-lived resident of Cochachinche holds the record for being the oldest Pension 65 user. Despite facing challenges such as hearing problems, the need for dentures, and the inability to walk due to a fall, his health remains stable, earning the admiration of all who have the privilege of knowing him. When asked about the secret to his longevity, Marcelino Abad Tolentino emphasizes the importance of leading a peaceful life and maintaining a healthy diet over the years. Those who have shared moments with him affirm that solidarity has always been a fundamental pillar in his life, even amidst the extreme poverty that surrounds him. Currently, the oldest man in all of Peru resides in the Casa Hogar Mis Abuelitos, under the direction of Father Oswaldo Rodríguez Martínez. His life is a living testimony of resilience, kindness, and perseverance, inspiring an entire community to value life and take care of those who have traveled a long road.
