The Gaza Strip is once again the scene of horror and devastation, with the discovery of 60 bodies in Shujaiya after the withdrawal of Israeli troops. The Gaza Civil Defense has recovered these bodies, but warns that there are still dozens of people trapped under the rubble in this declared uninhabitable zone without vital services such as healthcare, electricity, or water. Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for the Civil Defense, highlighted in a press conference the extensive destruction in Shujaiya, turning it into a ghost town and unfit for living. With over 85% of buildings collapsed, the tragedy worsens knowing that the only medical clinic serving over 60,000 people was completely destroyed. Survivors report that the Army attacked the displaced despite guaranteeing them security to leave, revealing a situation of extreme vulnerability and indiscriminate violence amidst a seemingly endless conflict. The Israeli Army has concluded its military operation in Shujaiya, where they returned for a second time after clashes with Hamas forces. It is estimated that at least 150 militants were killed and eight tunnels destroyed. However, the toll in civilian lives and massive destruction in the area raise questions about the proportionality of military actions and respect for human rights amid the conflict. The story of Shujaiya is one of pain and suffering, with an intense operation in December that left the area devastated and a tragic episode in which three Israeli hostages were mistakenly killed by Israeli forces. The population of Gaza is once again forced to flee, this time to a "safe zone" in Deir al Balah, while humanitarian organizations warn about the lack of a truly safe place amidst the unleashed violence. The war in Gaza has left a devastating toll, with over 38,300 Palestinian deaths and around 88,300 injuries, according to figures from the Health Ministry controlled by Hamas. The civilian population is trapped in an endless cycle of violence and displacement, with no clear prospects for peace or long-term solutions to the conflict. The international community continues to push for a ceasefire and negotiations to end the suffering of the Gaza population, which has been living amidst destruction and death for months.
