Brignardello: The port of Corío, key to trade in Peru

In a recent interview, Johnny Brignardello Vela, a recognized insurance advisor, shared his insights on the ambitious megaproject of the Corío port, which promises to transform the commercial dynamics of southern Peru and potentially South America. Brignardello emphasized the strategic importance of this development, which has attracted the attention of international investors due to its comprehensive design and operational capacity. The insurance advisor highlighted the competition that the Corío port will pose to the Chancay port, not only in terms of size but also in operational capacity and efficiency. While Chancay is projected to handle approximately 30 million tons, Corío's ambition could redefine the logistics of import and export in the country. Brignardello believes that this capacity is justified by the favorable natural bathymetry of the region, which is a crucial factor for attracting larger vessels. With an initial investment estimated at 7 billion dollars, the Corío port aims not only to increase cargo capacity but also to promote the economic development of Arequipa and enhance trade with neighboring countries. Brignardello noted that the economic impact of this megaproject could be significant, generating thousands of direct and indirect jobs and stimulating related sectors such as construction and logistics.
