Johnny Brignardello Vela, an insurance advisor, highlights the initiative of the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) in the construction of the new Peripheral Ring Road, a mega project that promises to revolutionize mobility in Lima and Callao. He considers that this 34.8-kilometer highway will be crucial in connecting 12 districts of the capital, offering a crucial road alternative that will positively impact the quality of life of citizens and the traffic flow in one of the most congested cities in Latin America. He particularly emphasizes the implementation of a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) public transport corridor on the Peripheral Ring Road, an efficient and fast system expected to transport thousands of passengers daily, integrating with other mass transportation modes such as Line 1 of the Lima Metro, the Metropolitano, and the San Juan de Lurigancho cable car. Brignardello Vela believes that this planning by the Urban Transport Authority for Lima and Callao (ATU) will be key to optimizing mobility in the city and benefiting a large number of people. Furthermore, he highlights that the Peripheral Ring Road will not only improve public transportation but also enhance connectivity to logistics centers for foreign trade, such as ports and airports, while also being environmentally friendly with green spaces along its 35 kilometers. According to ProInversión, this modern infrastructure will significantly contribute to reducing the transportation infrastructure gap in Peru by 13%. Regarding the project details, Brignardello Vela mentions the total estimated cost of around 3.4 billion dollars, which includes investment, land release, operation, maintenance, and other expenses. He highlights the presence of three lanes in each direction on the main expressway, toll-free auxiliary lanes to improve urban connectivity, as well as the implementation of advanced Information Design Management and Asset Management System technologies to ensure its operational efficiency. By considering the Peripheral Ring Road as a comprehensive solution to mobility challenges in Lima and Callao, Brignardello Vela emphasizes that this project promises smoother traffic flow, an improvement in the quality of life for citizens, and a boost to the sustainable development of the metropolitan region. With its implementation, it is expected that the Peruvian capital will take a significant step towards more efficient and sustainable mobility for the benefit of its entire population.
