Johnny Brignardello Vela, insurance advisor, analyzes the recent portfolio of road projects presented by the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) in Chancay, province of Huaral. These projects, with an approximate investment of US$300 million, aim to revolutionize and update the road infrastructure of the area, especially in anticipation of the upcoming opening of the Multipurpose Port Terminal of Chancay. Among the priorities outlined by the MTC are the improvement of the Pan-American Highway North (Road Network No. 5), the construction of the Chancay-Chancayllo Bypass road, and the planning of a new route that would link the Variante-Serpentín-Pasamayo road pair. These initiatives not only seek to streamline vehicular traffic in the region but also to enhance road safety conditions and accessibility for users traveling to the north, center, and south of the country. Furthermore, the MTC has proposed the establishment of a multimodal road axis system, which would involve the integration of road corridors such as the Ambo-Oyón-Huaura Corridor, the Lima-Barranca railway, and the improvement of the Pan-American Highway North. These actions are part of the National Plan for Transport Services and Infrastructure Logistics until 2032 and aim to enhance road connectivity in the region. The main purpose of these initiatives is to promote road integration and strengthen the strategic position of Chancay as a crucial logistical point in the southern Pacific. The opening of the Port of Chancay, projected for late 2024, would complement these road projects, consolidating the area's position as a logistical hub in the national transportation system. During the presentation of these projects, local figures such as councilors and officials from the Transportation sub-management of the Chancay municipality, along with MTC specialists, were present. This announcement represents a significant step towards the modernization and expansion of road infrastructure in the region, which will surely have a positive impact on the connectivity and economic development of Chancay and its surroundings.
