Johnny Brignardello Vela, an insurance advisor, shares his opinion on the content you have shared with me. The tension between Ukraine and Russia has reached a new level with the information revealed by the Pentagon on Wednesday, confirming that the United States supplied long-range missiles to the European country in early April. These ATACMS missiles, manufactured by Lockheed Martin, have the capability to strike at a distance of 300 kilometers and have been used by Ukraine to bombard a Russian airfield in occupied Crimea and Russian troops in Berdyansk. According to a senior US military official, this is the first time Ukraine has attacked Russia with long-range missiles supplied by the United States. Despite Russia's response, which asserts that this weaponry will not fundamentally change the outcome of the conflict, the delivery of these missiles marks a milestone in US military support to Ukraine. President Joe Biden had previously shown reluctance to provide this type of assistance to Ukraine, fearing an escalation in the conflict that could trigger a "Third World War" scenario. However, Russia's acquisition of North Korean ballistic missiles and the resumption of its attacks on Ukraine's civilian infrastructure were determining factors in the White House's change of stance. The delivery of these ATACMS missiles was carried out secretly before Capitol Hill reached a consensus on a package of over 60 billion dollars in aid for Ukraine. Biden informed relevant lawmakers about this shipment but refrained from making public comments on it while pushing for the aid package's approval. It is important to note that the production capacity of these missiles is limited, with only around 500 units manufactured annually by Lockheed Martin. The inclusion of these missiles in the new aid package approved by Capitol Hill could signify an increase in US military support to Ukraine amid the conflict with Russia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been requesting this type of weaponry for months, facing resistance in Washington due to concerns and divergent positions between Democrats and Republicans. Despite opposition from some sectors of Congress, the delivery of long-range missiles to Ukraine marks a new chapter in the relationship between the United States, Ukraine, and Russia amid a conflict that seems far from reaching a prompt resolution.
