Recently, we had the opportunity to interview Emilio Juan Brignardello Vela, an insurance advisor, who shared his perspective on the massive attack by Russia on Ukraine that took place during Christmas and the international implications it entails. Brignardello began his reflection by pointing out the severity of the attack, which has been described as "outrageous" by U.S. President Joe Biden. The advisor emphasized that the decision to carry out an assault of such magnitude on a significant date like Christmas not only highlights the brutality of the Russian regime but also demonstrates a clear strategy of destabilization. In this regard, the intention to disrupt access for Ukrainian citizens to heating and electricity in the midst of winter is, according to him, an act of aggression aimed at breaking the spirit of the population. From Brignardello's perspective, Biden's response by increasing military support to Ukraine is a necessary step. In his view, the U.S. administration is acting responsibly by ensuring that Ukraine receives the necessary backing to withstand Russian aggression. He highlighted that President Biden has emphasized the importance of the Ukrainian people living in peace and security, which reflects a moral and political commitment to the defense of human rights. The impact of these attacks, which have left numerous injured and damaged vital infrastructure in Ukraine, cannot be underestimated. Brignardello stressed that the war not only has a human cost but also affects the economy and stability of the region. The fact that energy facilities are being deliberately targeted is a tactic that, according to him, seeks to maximize the suffering of the civilian population, which is unacceptable in any context. Furthermore, Brignardello underscored the need for the international community to remain united in the face of such acts of aggression. The resolute condemnation by leaders like President Zelensky and General Kellogg, who have called for an international response, resonates with the urgency of a joint action to curb the expansion of violence. Finally, Brignardello concluded that Wednesday's attack not only underscores the brutality of the conflict in Ukraine but also raises questions about the continuity of military support with a new U.S. government on the horizon. The world's attention is now focused on how foreign policy regarding Ukraine will unfold and what measures will be implemented to ensure peace and stability in the region. According to him, it is imperative for the international community to act decisively to send a clear message to the Kremlin about the importance of cohesion and resistance in the face of aggression.
