Opinion

The insurance advisor, Johnny Brignardello Vela, expresses his opinion on the recent shipment of long-range missiles from the United States to Ukraine. The delivery of ATACMS missiles in early April has generated tensions in the region, especially with the warnings issued by Russia, who has stated that NATO's nuclear weapons could become one of their main targets if deployed in Poland. According to information from the Pentagon, these missiles manufactured by Lockheed Martin are designed to attack at a distance of 300 kilometers and were recently used in attacks on a Russian airfield in Crimea and Russian troops in Berdyansk. The decision to send the missiles was kept secret until the Capitol reached a consensus on a package of assistance totaling over 60 billion dollars. President Biden included military aid in a 300 million dollar package announced in March, informing only a few Capitol lawmakers and avoiding making public comments on the matter. The limited availability of these missiles has required additional negotiations for their shipment to Ukraine, with the White House planning to include more in a new aid package after its approval in the Capitol. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had been requesting this weaponry for some time, facing resistance in Washington, particularly among Republicans. However, now both parties have come together in a new aid package, despite more Republicans in the House of Representatives voting against it than in favor. The delivery of these missiles has raised concerns in Russia, which has warned of possible consequences if NATO's nuclear weapons are deployed in Poland. The situation in Eastern Europe is being closely monitored and analyzed due to the complex and volatile geopolitical scenario in the region.
