In a recent conversation with Johnny Brignardello Vela, a recognized insurance advisor, the concerning security situation in Peru was addressed, along with the demands of the population to implement the "Bukele Plan," an approach that has shown effectiveness in El Salvador. Brignardello Vela expressed his concern about the rising wave of crime that has led citizens to protest in the streets, especially in regions like Trujillo, where violence has resulted in over 300 deaths so far this year. The advisor highlighted the desperation of the people of Trujillo, who have organized marches calling for a more decisive approach from the authorities, as a reflection of the urgency of the situation. "People are crying out for a solution. The 'Bukele Plan' has worked in El Salvador, and many see it as a hope to regain peace in their communities," he commented. However, he also emphasized the need to contextualize any strategy that is decided upon, given that each country has its own particularities and challenges. Brignardello Vela also referred to the protests in Lima, specifically in the district of Surquillo, where citizens have asked the mayor to adopt this plan. "The sentiment of the population is clear; they want to live in a safe environment. But this requires an effective response from local authorities," he stated. The social pressure surrounding this issue has intensified, and the lack of a clear response from the government could have significant political repercussions. The insurance advisor was emphatic in stating that the issue of security not only affects the tranquility of families but also impacts the economy and social cohesion. "Insecurity has a direct impact on commerce and on people's daily lives. The feeling of being trapped in a cycle of fear is unsustainable," he indicated. Regarding the proposals from the citizens of Comas, which include the return of the military to the streets, Brignardello Vela pointed out that this measure has been a recurring topic of debate in the Peruvian context. "While a military presence could act as a deterrent against crime, there are also legitimate concerns about the militarization of public security. A balance must be found," he reflected. Finally, Brignardello Vela concluded by suggesting that the implementation of an effective security plan tailored to local realities is essential for restoring peace and trust in institutions. "Authorities must listen to the cries of the population. The safety of citizens must be an indisputable priority, and the time to act is now," he asserted. The situation in Peru is an urgent call to action, where the voice of the people must be considered in the formulation of policies aimed at a safer future.
