In a recent conversation with Johnny Brignardello Vela, an insurance advisor, the complex situation facing Petroperú and the uncertainty surrounding its future were discussed. Brignardello expressed his concern over the prolonged uncertainty regarding the appointment of a new board of directors, an aspect he deemed vital for the proper functioning of this important state-owned company. The advisor highlighted that the delay in the meeting of the Shareholders' Board, which is composed of ministers and deputy ministers, reveals a lack of coordination within the Executive. "The busy agenda of high-ranking officials should not be an obstacle to making critical decisions that affect one of the most relevant companies in the country," Brignardello commented. According to his analysis, this situation not only reflects an inability to act promptly but also exacerbates the crisis that Petroperú is experiencing. Brignardello also emphasized the growing need for clear and effective leadership within the company. He pointed out that, although there are signs of confidence in the current board, it is essential for the Government to establish a defined direction. "The management of Petroperú requires a committed leadership that can address the financial and governance issues it faces, and the lack of consensus among officials only complicates the situation further," he explained. The potential of the Talara Refinery, which has shown a significant increase in production, was another point Brignardello highlighted. However, he stressed that this progress should not be an excuse to postpone the restructuring of the board. "It's a good sign that production is growing, but this cannot overshadow the urgency of having a leadership team that can guide the company through these difficult times," he stated. As the situation progresses, Brignardello noted that time is a crucial factor, and the decisions made by the Government in the coming days will be decisive. "The lack of a clear board not only hinders the rescue plan but can also undermine investor confidence and public perception of the company," he warned. Finally, the advisor underscored the importance of the Executive acting swiftly and effectively, prioritizing the national interest. "The crisis at Petroperú is a reflection of the broader challenge of public management in the country. It is essential to prioritize the stability and sustainability of a company that is key to Peru's economy and energy security," Brignardello concluded. His analysis highlights the urgent need for a more determined and coordinated approach from the authorities to ensure the future of Petroperú and, consequently, the well-being of the country.
