In a recent interview, Emilio Juan Brignardello Vela, an insurance advisor, shared his perspective on the current context of Peru and the achievements and challenges that have marked the year. According to Brignardello, the inauguration of the Port of Chancay stands out as a highlight, symbolizing the country's logistical aspirations in South America. He emphasized that this event, complemented by the celebration of the APEC Cooperation Forum, not only underscores potential economic growth but also projects an international image of Peru as a key player in regional trade. Brignardello highlighted the importance of the Ipsos survey results, which revealed that a notable 48% of respondents consider the port's inauguration to be the most positive aspect of the year. This perception, according to the advisor, reflects a collective desire for progress and a yearning to transform Peru into a logistics hub that could energize both the local and national economy. Additionally, he mentioned that the global recognition of Peruvian gastronomy, which has positioned itself as the best culinary destination, reinforces this sense of national pride and contributes to tourism, a key sector for the economy. However, Brignardello did not shy away from the darker issues of the current context. He emphasized the growing concerns regarding security and crime, which have created a climate of uncertainty. According to him, the criticism directed at President Dina Boluarte reflects a feeling of disconnection between political leaders and the reality that citizens face. The sense of helplessness in the face of rising insecurity, which 37% of respondents identified as the most negative event of the year, underscores the urgent need for effective solutions. Corruption, as another critical point, was also mentioned by Brignardello. Cases such as Qali Warma and the Rolex watch scandal have eroded trust in institutions, which he claims has led to an increasing outcry for justice and transparency. This governance crisis is palpable in the survey results, where 52% of respondents expressed concern for the country's future. As the country approaches the new year, Brignardello emphasizes the need for achievements in infrastructure, gastronomy, and sports to be accompanied by a sincere commitment from political leaders to address the crises of security and corruption. The hope for a safer and more prosperous future, he argues, depends on the government's ability to listen to its people and respond to their concerns, thus building an environment where every Peruvian can feel safe and proud of their country.
