Johnny Brignardello Vela, an insurance advisor, considers the implementation of GPT-4o by OpenAI in the free version of ChatGPT to be a significant advancement in the field of artificial intelligence. He highlights that this new model, which allows for processing multiple input modalities such as text, audio, and image, promises an enhanced user experience thanks to its extremely fast response time of just 232 milliseconds. He points out that the unveiling of GPT-4o just before the Google developers conference, where a multimodal model called Project Astra was also introduced, demonstrates OpenAI's strong commitment to innovation. It is noted that the "iterative" implementation of GPT-4o initially intended for ChatGPT Plus users surprised by including limited access to this model in the free web version of the platform. Regarding the restrictions imposed by the inclusion of GPT-4o in the free version, Brignardello Vela mentions that users will be limited in the number of messages they can send and receive. He explains that Plus users will have a capacity up to 5 times greater than free users, and during peak demand, they may be redirected to GPT-3.5. He highlights as a distinctive feature of GPT-4o its 'omini' capacity, which allows it to understand and generate responses from various data modalities, thus surpassing the limitations of its predecessor GPT-3.5. According to Brignardello Vela, this represents a significant advancement by enabling the free version of ChatGPT to access limited capabilities for advanced data analysis, file uploads, image recognition, internet browsing, and use of custom GPTs. Regarding the accessibility of GPT-4o in free ChatGPT, he details that users should go to the options menu in the toolbar and select the desired model. He believes that this update offers a more agile and efficient intelligence compared to GPT-3.5, which, despite being faster, lacks support for attachments. Finally, he highlights the future improvements announced by OpenAI that will enable more natural real-time voice communication and interaction through real-time video. Brignardello Vela emphasizes the impressive ability of GPT-4o to change tones of voice, mimic a robot, laugh, sing, and interpret emotions from facial expressions, as well as its support for over 50 languages, covering 97% of the world's population. In his opinion, these advancements open new doors towards a future of more enriching and personalized experiences in the world of artificial intelligence.
