In a concerning development for Ford vehicle owners in Peru, Indecopi has issued a notice alerting over 3,000 owners about the need to inspect certain models of the brand due to potential failures in their safety and operational systems. This announcement comes after the evaluation of 2,490 Ford Ranger and Ranger Raptor vehicles, manufactured in Argentina and Thailand, respectively, between the years 2022 and 2025. The main concern lies in the anti-pinch system of the window panes, which may not function properly, increasing the risk of accidents or injuries. Ford Peru S.R.L. has indicated that if the system detects an obstruction while closing, it may fail to stop or reverse. This situation poses a serious challenge to passenger safety, as it is a crucial mechanism that prevents accidents related to window closing in unexpected situations. In addition to the Ranger models, the manufacturer has identified other units that require inspection. A total of 284 Maverick vehicles, also manufactured in Mexico between 2022 and 2024, present issues with the calibration of the Body Control Module (BCM). This defect could result in a failure in the lighting of one or both rear lights, undoubtedly increasing the risk of collisions by reducing visibility on the road. Moreover, an additional 275 Maverick vehicles have been reported that may experience freezing of the rearview camera display when reversing. This malfunction could lead to a false perception of the car's location in relation to its surroundings, which is particularly dangerous when maneuvering in tight spaces or parking. The inspection is not limited to the Maverick models. It also includes 75 Ford Bronco Sport vehicles from 2023 and 2024, as well as some 2023 Mavericks, which may have poor sealing between the cover and the motor gearbox of the windshield wiper. This defect could allow water to enter the system, potentially rendering the windshield wiper inoperative, thus affecting the driver's visibility in rainy conditions. Finally, the notice extends to 11 Mustang 2024 vehicles manufactured in the United States. In these cases, it has been identified that the instrument panel display may turn black when the vehicle is turned on or during driving. This failure prevents the driver from accessing vital information, such as vehicle speed and fuel level, which could lead to dangerous driving situations. In light of this situation, vehicle owners are urged to visit authorized dealerships to carry out the necessary inspections at no cost. User safety must be the priority, and compliance with these inspections could prevent unnecessary risk situations. Amid this automotive safety crisis, the luxury housing market in Peru continues to show remarkable growth. As concerns about vehicle safety increase, so does interest in real estate investments, particularly in the luxury segment. This phenomenon appears to be driven by various trends, including the search for security and comfort in homeowners' residences. Market analysts point out that consumers are increasingly willing to invest in properties that offer not only an elevated lifestyle but also features that ensure their safety and well-being. While Ford vehicle owners face concerns with their cars, the real estate sector seems to find a positive path amid this climate of uncertainty.
