In today's business landscape, where technological innovation seems to be the norm, Mundimoto stands out as a fascinating exception. Founded in 2019 by Pepe Talavera and Alberto Fossas, this company has demonstrated that a revolutionary idea is not always necessary to achieve success. In a traditional sector like the buying and selling of motorcycles, Mundimoto has managed to find its niche through a digital and logistical approach that has transformed the customer experience. Talavera's story is inspiring and reflects the essence of modern entrepreneurship. Observing how his friend Alberto sold motorcycles through Wallapop, Talavera realized the inefficiencies of the process: travel, haggling, and concerns about warranties. "I thought that with a cool website and a strong brand, it could work better," he recalls. This simple idea was the seed of Mundimoto, which quickly positioned itself in a market that many considered outdated. Success soon followed. In its first year of operations, Mundimoto achieved profitability. With exponential growth, the company generated one million euros in its first year and doubled that figure in the second, maintaining a 10% EBITDA. "That's when we saw that if we scaled quickly, we could go far," says Talavera, who has led the company solo since early 2023. This constant drive has allowed Mundimoto to grow sustainably, focusing its efforts on profitability before seeking external investments. A turning point came in 2024 when Talavera decided to seek funding to accelerate the company's growth. With support from prominent figures like Francisco Riberas, Mutua Madrileña, and Pablo Isla, Mundimoto secured 10 million euros, marking a significant turning point. "With them, everything works better," Talavera acknowledges, highlighting how this capital injection has enabled the company to optimize its operations and expand its market presence. Mundimoto's business model is innovative in its simplicity. Anyone can sell their motorcycle to the company through an online form. Once the team conducts the appraisal and the owner accepts the offer, the motorcycle is picked up at their home and paid for instantly. This process is not only quick but also offers guarantees that other competitors in the market do not provide. In 2023, the company sold around 15,000 motorcycles and currently has a stock of approximately 2,000 vehicles, ranging in price from 1,200 to 26,000 euros. In addition to its traditional buying and selling model, Mundimoto has adapted to current trends by introducing renting in 2022. This option has proven to be a great success. "People now prefer not to make large outlays all at once, and this option is clearly on the rise," explains Talavera. With more than 2,000 motorcycles available for rent, the company has diversified its offerings, attracting both individuals and businesses. This has contributed to a remarkable increase in its revenue, which reached 70 million euros in 2023, a 16.6% advance from the previous year. The company has not only established a solid base in the Spanish market but has also begun to expand abroad. With stores in several cities in Spain and a recent leap to Italy, Mundimoto aims to become a reference in the buying and selling of motorcycles across Europe. This move not only strengthens its position but also highlights confidence in its business model. Mundimoto's workforce has grown to 320 employees, a clear indicator of its success and its ability to generate employment. The outlook is optimistic, and the company is confident in surpassing its revenue figures in the coming year, continuing its trend of sustained growth. Talavera has shown that often, the key to success lies in simplicity and the ability to adapt to market demands. In a world where technological complexity often distracts from the main business purpose, Mundimoto's story is a reminder that sometimes, the most effective solutions are the simplest. The company has successfully combined tradition with modernity, offering a service that simplifies the consumer's life while also generating sustainable profits. Without a doubt, Mundimoto is an example of how ingenuity and perseverance can transform an old business into a contemporary success.
