Ford Bronco Sport: the perfect adventure through the stunning Peruvian landscapes.

When it comes to exploring the stunning landscapes of Peru, few vehicles are as iconic as the Ford Bronco Sport, an SUV designed with an adventurous spirit that aligns perfectly with the demands of Peruvian roads. Recently, we had the opportunity to put this model to the test on a journey that began in Lima and took us through Lunahuaná and Huancaya, all the way to San Mateo and back to the capital. This trip, which brought us to altitudes close to 5,000 meters, was the perfect occasion to evaluate the off-road capabilities of the Bronco Sport. The route to Huancaya was approximately a nine-hour drive, where the initial stretch from Lima to Imperial allowed us to test the vehicle's acceleration on the South Pan-American Highway. Equipped with a 2.0-liter engine that develops 250 hp and an impressive torque of 376 nm, the Bronco Sport proved to be agile and powerful, achieving an impressive acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just seven seconds. This speed, combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission, allowed for a smooth and hassle-free driving experience. As we approached Lunahuaná, the terrain became more challenging, with stretches of two-way roads and unlit highways. In this context, the Auto High Beams system proved to be an invaluable tool for maintaining visibility and safety during the night. The Bronco Sport, with its LED lighting, ensured that we could see and be seen, boosting our confidence in driving. One of the standout features during the trip was the interior comfort of the vehicle. As the hours of driving accumulated, the leather seats with manual adjustments became essential for the comfort of both the driver and the passenger. With features like electronic climate control and a wireless charger, the Bronco Sport's cabin was designed with the traveler's well-being in mind, making long drives more enjoyable. To maximize the vehicle's performance on rugged terrain, we decided to adjust the tire pressure as we ventured into trail areas. The presence of Pirelli Scorpion All-Terrain tires provided excellent traction, allowing us to tackle the stones and potholes of the road without compromising safety or stability. This attention to detail, combined with a tire pressure monitoring system, proved to be an advantage in difficult terrain. The return trip along the road that borders the Nor-Yauyos-Cochas Landscape Reserve was a true test of endurance for both the occupants and the Ford Bronco Sport. On a 129 km journey that took four hours, the SUV demonstrated its ability to handle geological failures without suffering damage. With a ground clearance of 218 mm and a fording capability of 599 mm, the Bronco Sport stood firm against the challenges posed by the route. However, not everything was straightforward. As we ascended to higher altitudes, we noticed that the engine's response became slower due to the decrease in air pressure. Although turbo engines help mitigate this effect, a decrease in response below 2,000 rpm was undeniable. This highlighted the importance of knowing the vehicle and adapting to the changing conditions of altitude. The driving experience was enriched by the five driving management modes offered by the Ford Bronco Sport. With modes like "Normal," "Eco," "Sport," "Slippery," and "Sand," precise adjustments were made according to terrain conditions, providing greater confidence on both dirt paths and paved roads. The constant all-wheel drive was a lifesaver in the most difficult stretches, where conditions could change rapidly. Finally, after returning to Lima and evaluating fuel consumption, we were pleasantly surprised by the vehicle's performance. With an average of 31 km/gallon over a total distance of 650 kilometers, the Bronco Sport demonstrated that efficiency can coexist with adventure. This ability to optimize consumption, even in rigorous conditions, makes the Bronco Sport an attractive option not only for adventure lovers but also for those seeking a reliable and efficient vehicle. As we reflect on this journey, it is clear that the Ford Bronco Sport is more than just an SUV; it is a travel companion that adapts to the challenges of Peruvian routes, from paved roads to mountain paths.
