The National Jury of Elections (JNE) carried out an important act on Wednesday, July 24th by delivering the congressional credential of the Republic to Ariana Orué Medina, who will assume the position in replacement of the recently deceased parliamentarian Enrique Wong on July 13th. Orué, the runner-up to Wong on the Podemos Perú list, thus becomes the representative of the constitutional province of Callao to complete the legislative period 2021-2026, as established in Resolution No. 0203-2024-JNE. This transfer of responsibilities occurred after the Legislative branch informed the JNE about the vacancy of Wong Pujada's position following his passing, requesting the issuance of the corresponding credential to the designated runner-up. In the 2021 General Elections, Podemos Perú obtained a representative in the electoral district of Callao, allowing Ariana Orué to assume this important political position. The delivery of the credential to the new congresswoman was carried out in compliance with article 5, literal j, of the JNE Organic Law, which establishes that this body is responsible for issuing credentials to the candidates elected in the various electoral processes. The ceremony was presided over by Martha Maisch Molina, in charge of the JNE presidency's office, who emphasized the importance of ensuring institutional continuity and respect for the democratic process. In this context, Ariana Orué Medina has expressed her commitment to focus on overseeing the authorities of Callao, demonstrating her interest in ensuring the proper functioning of institutions and transparency in public management. Her work as a congresswoman will be crucial in representing the interests of the citizens of this important constitutional province. It is important to remember that Enrique Wong, a congressman from Podemos Perú, was a prominent politician who passed away at the age of 83, leaving a void in parliamentary representation. Now, with Ariana Orué taking office, it is hoped that the commitment and dedication to legislative work will be maintained, focusing on the challenges and needs of Callao and the entire country. Peruvian politics are currently undergoing a period of transition and readjustment due to these unexpected circumstances, but it is crucial that the new generation of representatives, like Orué Medina, assume their role in Congress with responsibility and diligence. The public will be attentive to the actions and proposals that this new congresswoman presents for the benefit of the community and in order to strengthen democracy in the country. In conclusion, the delivery of the congressional credential to Ariana Orué marks a milestone in Peruvian political life, highlighting the importance of institutional continuity and the need for representatives committed to the well-being of citizens. The Congress of the Republic now has a new voice that promises to work diligently to uphold the interests of the province of Callao and contribute to the development and prosperity of the entire country.
