The business sector in Peru has taken a step forward by presenting more than 80 proposals to the government to promote the country's development in various key sectors. Confiep, in collaboration with its 23 associated business guilds and regional chambers of commerce, has developed proposals aimed at closing gaps, increasing competitiveness, combating insecurity, promoting the generation of formal employment, and advocating for a political reform that strengthens democracy. Confiep's president, Alfonso Bustamante, has stated that the private sector is committed to contributing to the creation of public policies that improve the quality of life for the Peruvian population. At a crucial moment for the economy and development of the country, these proposals cover housing, state modernization, political reform, foreign trade and tourism, agriculture, mining, hydrocarbons, fishing, citizen security, and investment climate. In the housing sector, it has been suggested to increase funds for social housing and expand the housing supply to ensure the sustainability of existing subsidies. Regarding state modernization, the proposal is to reorganize and declare an emergency for Corpac, evaluating the possibility of entrusting its management to private companies with proven experience. In relation to political reform, it is proposed to ensure the suitability of electoral candidates and monitor the financing of political campaigns, as well as regulate private party financing. In foreign trade and tourism, it is proposed to concession regional airports to boost connectivity and decentralized development. In the agriculture sector, efforts are being made to increase competitiveness through a new agrarian sector law that provides long-term legal certainty. In mining, the aim is to streamline procedures to reduce requirements and permits. In hydrocarbons, projects to expand natural gas in various regions are promoted. In fishing, there is a proposal to strengthen competitiveness and incentives for aquaculture, as well as increase capacity in research and innovation. In citizen security, the proposal is to accelerate the implementation of flagrancy centers to streamline justice administration. Finally, in terms of investment climate, the proposal is to accelerate the bidding and execution of projects for access to mega-projects. These proposals, comprehensively developed by the private sector, seek not only to boost the country's economy and competitiveness but also to promote sustainable development, generate formal employment, and strengthen democratic institutions. It is crucial for the government to consider these proposals and work hand in hand with the business sector to achieve equitable and sustainable growth for Peru.
