The world of sports is experiencing a boom with the proximity of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and the companies YouTube and Claro Sports have renewed their agreement to carry out an unprecedented coverage of all competitions. This alliance not only aims to showcase technological advancements, but also to pay tribute to the sportsmanship that unites people from around the world. According to Joe Aboumrad, director of Claro Sports, this collaboration goes beyond simply broadcasting sporting events. Drawing from past experiences, such as the coverage of Tokyo 2020, Claro Sports has set out to deploy teams not only in Paris, but also in various countries in Latin America. With the intention of providing comprehensive and close coverage to viewers, transmission points will be set up with iconic views, such as the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe. During the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the audience showed great interest in the competitions, with 600 million visits to the Claro Sports website and 120 million hours viewed. These challenging figures have served as a boost for both companies, who are looking to continue expanding their reach, especially through Smart TV broadcasts. To enhance the viewer experience, YouTube has implemented special updates to its interface for this event. Among the novelties is the Multiview function, which will allow users to follow up to four simultaneous events from the Claro Sports channel. Additionally, more than 2,000 highlight clips of around 10 minutes each will be produced, so that those who cannot watch the competitions live can access them on demand. As part of their collaboration, Telcel will launch a new prepaid plan with unlimited data for a limited time, with the goal of ensuring that the transmission of the competitions does not impact users' finances. This special plan, available for 15 pesos, will give users the opportunity to enjoy the Claro Sports coverage unlimitedly for a set period. Focusing on audience diversity has also been a priority for the companies, who have conducted a detailed analysis to determine the most followed sports in each country. This strategy ensures that audiences from countries like Argentina, Colombia, and Mexico can find and support their standout athletes, such as Alexa Moreno in gymnastics or Egan Bernal in cycling. In summary, the renewal of the agreement between YouTube and Claro Sports for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games promises an exciting and close coverage for viewers across the continent. With a focus on technology, diverse content, and accessibility, these companies are ready to offer a unique experience to sports lovers throughout the region.
