Amid the conflict in Gaza, violence and tragedy continue to take a heavy toll on human lives. In the past day, Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip have claimed the lives of at least 81 Palestinians and left another 198 injured, according to the Ministry of Health in the enclave controlled by Hamas. These tragic events add to an alarming figure: since the start of the war, an estimated 38,394 people have died, the majority of them women and children, while the number of injured has already reached 89,364. The situation in Gaza is heartbreaking, with thousands of bodies still buried under the rubble, out of reach of emergency teams struggling to provide assistance amidst chaos and destruction. Indiscriminate attacks have hit areas considered "humanitarian zones," such as Mawasi in the south and a UN school in Nuseirat in the center, unleashing a wave of death and suffering among the civilian population. The escalation of violence has led to desperate situations, with the Palestinian population constantly being displaced in search of safe refuge. The Israeli military has intensified its attacks in densely populated areas, such as the Gaza capital, where the total evacuation of civilians has been ordered, forcing thousands of people to flee to what are considered safer areas in the center of the Strip. The bombings do not differentiate between civilians and combatants, as evidenced by the airstrike on the El Cairo School in Rimal, which left 11 people dead, including children. The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has also been targeted in the attacks, with at least 17 people killed in a bombing on one of its schools in the Nuseirat refugee camp. Violence spreads throughout the Strip, with reports of bombings on homes in different areas, such as Abasan in Jan Yunis and Rafah in Tal al Sultan, where more casualties, including women and children, have been recorded. These events are a painful reminder of the urgent need to end the violence and seek a diplomatic and humanitarian solution to the conflict in Gaza. The humanitarian crisis worsens with the depletion of basic resources, such as electricity supply and the shortage of fuel for medical generators. The Ministry of Health in Gaza has issued a desperate appeal to the international community to obtain electric generators that allow hospitals to continue operating, warning that patients' lives are at risk if these essential equipment go out of service. Amidst the devastation and suffering, it is imperative that the violence be stopped and urgent humanitarian assistance be provided to the civilian population of Gaza. The international community has a responsibility to act and pressure the conflicting parties to cease hostilities and seek a peaceful solution that ends the bloodshed and suffering of thousands of innocent people trapped in the midst of war.
