The conflict between Israel and Gaza has escalated once again, with rockets being fired into Israel and intense battles raging in the Shejaiya area of Gaza. The situation has taken a toll on civilians, with more than 37,900 people reportedly killed in Gaza since the conflict began, including 23 deaths in the past 24 hours alone. On Monday morning, sirens blared in Israeli communities near the Gaza border fence, prompting evacuations as rockets targeted the area. The Eshkol Regional Council reported that 18 rockets were launched towards its territories, with one landing near Kibbutz Holit and another being intercepted by the Iron Dome defense system. This recent barrage of rockets marks the largest attack from Gaza since January, according to reports. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) responded by targeting the sources of the rocket fire in the southern Khan Younis area and engaging in artillery strikes in various locations across Gaza. In the midst of the conflict, casualties on both sides continue to rise. Palestinian news agency Wafa reported civilian deaths and injuries in Khuzaa, while the IDF stated that it had eliminated numerous terrorists during raids in Shejaiya. The IDF also reported the deaths of two Israeli soldiers in combat in northern Gaza. The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (Unrwa) highlighted the dire situation faced by residents of Shejaiya and surrounding areas, with up to 80,000 people being displaced and struggling to find safe passage amid the violence. The devastation and displacement caused by the conflict have left many residents in a state of fear, hunger, and despair. As the battle rages on, both sides are locked in a cycle of violence that shows no signs of abating. The toll on civilian lives and livelihoods continues to mount, underscoring the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the conflict in order to prevent further suffering and loss.
