The Dia Group renews its sustainable strategy to amplify its impact The Dia Group, a chain of neighborhood supermarkets, has taken a firm step towards sustainability with the launch of its new 2024-2025 Strategic Plan, called "Every day counts." This plan, succeeding the previous 2021-2023 plan, aims to primarily boost the local economy, promote a diverse and inclusive culture, care for the natural environment, and strengthen a more sustainable value chain. Martín Tolcachir, Dia's Global CEO, highlights that the value of proximity guides the business's strategic decisions, with the goal of creating value in the communities where they operate. This new sustainable approach has been developed after an intense year of work in which the Dia Group has involved all areas of the business and listened to the opinions and concerns of 8,000 stakeholders. This consultation process has allowed the company to identify priorities, such as the development of the local economy and the promotion of a diverse and inclusive culture, which become the central pillars of the Strategic Plan. Dia's commitment to sustainability is also reflected in its focus on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aligning eight commitments and strategic initiatives with these objectives. Among the plan's priorities is the development of the local economy, promoting access to healthy and quality food, as well as stimulating entrepreneurship and employment through the network of franchisees and local suppliers. Regarding the care for the natural environment, the Dia Group commits to reducing its carbon emissions, increasing the recyclability of packaging, and continuing to reduce food waste. Additionally, the company will focus on promoting a more sustainable value chain, classifying its suppliers according to ESG criteria and mobilizing them towards a responsible management model. One of the highlighted programs in this sustainable strategy is "Eating better every day," launched in May 2023 with the aim of mitigating food barriers and promoting healthy eating habits. According to the Dia Group, 3.1 billion people worldwide lack a healthy diet, and the program seeks to facilitate access to healthy foods, raise awareness about the importance of proper nutrition, and promote healthy habits among the population. In summary, the Dia Group positions itself as a company committed to sustainability and social responsibility, focusing on promoting local development, diversity and inclusion, environmental care, and a more ethical value chain. With its 2024-2025 Strategic Plan, the company aims not only to have a positive impact on its communities but also to lead the way towards a more sustainable and equitable future for all.
