Amidst the escalation of violence in Gaza, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) reported that at least 22 people lost their lives and another 45 were injured in a bombing that hit their office in the region. This tragic event occurred in an area where hundreds of displaced people are living in tents, causing further devastation in an already conflict-ridden area. While the ICRC did not directly attribute responsibility for the bombing to any of the parties involved in the conflict, the Gaza Health Ministry, governed by Hamas, accused Israel of being responsible for the deadly attacks. On the other hand, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that they are conducting an investigation to clarify what happened and that there is currently no evidence pointing to their involvement in the attack. This tragic episode has once again highlighted the vulnerability of civilians trapped in the midst of the armed conflict in Gaza, where humanitarian structures, such as the ICRC, have not been respected. The international organization strongly condemned the bombing, emphasizing the danger of attacking facilities clearly identified with the Red Cross symbol, putting the lives of civilians and humanitarian workers at risk. Mirjana Spoljaric, head of the ICRC, has urgently called on all parties involved in the conflict to respect international humanitarian law and ensure the protection of civilians in the midst of the confrontation. The escalation of violence in Gaza has led to an increasingly serious humanitarian crisis, with a rising toll of civilian casualties that underscores the urgent need for a peaceful and lasting solution. In a different context, the Peace Summit on Ukraine concluded without achieving the expected unanimity, as 12 states did not sign the final text. This fact reveals the difficulties in reaching agreements in complex international conflicts, where the interests of the different parties involved can hinder the negotiation process and the search for viable solutions. The lack of consensus at the Peace Summit on Ukraine reflects the geopolitical tensions and conflicting interests prevailing in the international arena, hindering the resolution of conflicts that affect stability and security in different regions of the world. Diplomacy and dialogue remain fundamental tools for the peaceful resolution of disputes, although the lack of agreement in multilateral forums represents a significant obstacle on the path to global peace and stability. In a scenario marked by violence in Gaza and the lack of unanimity at the Peace Summit on Ukraine, the call to the international community is urgent: efforts must be redoubled to protect civilians in conflict zones and promote effective dialogue between the warring parties to find sustainable and just solutions. Global peace and security depend on political will and international solidarity to overcome differences and work together in building a more peaceful and just world for all.
