Congressman Flavio Cruz, in a recent interview with Gestión, has stated that at this moment it is not a priority for Peru Libre to continue the agreement with Fuerza Popular in the Directiva del Congreso. Cruz, who also analyzed the management of the current President of Congress, Alejandro Soto, and defended the approval of the law that exempts political parties from criminal responsibility for the crimes of their members, provided his perspective on various current political issues. Regarding Alejandro Soto's management, Cruz evaluated it as good, highlighting the organization in handling legislative projects and the opening of spaces for congressmen representing various sectors. However, he expressed concern about the media silence of the President of Congress, considering it important for officials to be in contact with the population through the media to communicate the positive actions carried out in Parliament. Regarding the possibility of Soto's reelection as President of Congress, Cruz mentioned that in democracy there should be alternation, and although he would not support the candidacy of APP, he would respect the decision of the majorities. Furthermore, in response to the pre-candidacy of legislators such as Eduardo Salhuana and Lady Camones, Cruz stated that candidates for the Directiva del Congreso have not yet been evaluated in his party. Regarding the agreement signed between Peru Libre, Fuerza Popular, and the Bloque Democrático in the Directiva del Congreso, Cruz explained that it was a risky decision with the intention of uniting political sectors, although he acknowledged that it is still premature to evaluate its results. He also emphasized that the presence of Peru Libre in the Directiva has strengthened their party, but recognized that there is a sector of the population that is anti-Fujimori and does not accept the composition of the Directiva. Regarding the continuity of the agreement with Fuerza Popular for the next election of the Directiva del Congreso, Cruz indicated that, unlike last year, it is currently not a priority for Peru Libre to address that issue. Although he acknowledged that there were conflicting positions in his party in the past, he stated that they have not yet appointed a candidate for the presidency of Congress at the moment. Regarding the law that exempts political parties from criminal responsibility, Cruz defended the measure arguing that criminal responsibilities are personal and that it is important to rectify legal issues. Furthermore, he expressed his support for the proposal to convene a Constituent Assembly to modify the Constitution, despite the lack of votes in Parliament, highlighting the importance of continuing in that struggle. In conclusion, Flavio Cruz's position reflects the stance of Peru Libre on various relevant political issues, showing his views on the management of Congress, the continuity of agreements with other parties, and the importance of promoting constitutional reforms. His analysis highlights the complexity and challenges facing the current political landscape in Peru.
