In the midst of the ongoing conflict that continues to bleed the Gaza Strip, the numbers of victims have reached chilling levels. More than 36,400 Palestinians have lost their lives at the hands of Israeli attacks, with an increase of 60 fatalities in the last 24 hours, according to a report issued by the Gazan Ministry of Health, controlled by Hamas. These heartbreaking numbers reveal a bleak outlook in the Palestinian territory, where suffering and destruction seem to have no end. Local authorities report that 70% of the victims in Gaza are women and children, highlighting the disproportionate impact of violence on the most vulnerable groups of the population. Additionally, four massacres against families in the Gaza Strip have been documented in the last 24 hours, resulting in 60 dead and 220 wounded, raising the total of known wounded to 82,627, a figure that reflects the high human cost of this conflict. Amid this tragedy, the humanitarian situation worsens with the estimation that more than 10,000 bodies lie under the rubble, with rescue efforts unable to access them due to the prevailing insecurity in the region or the lack of resources such as fuel. This humanitarian crisis is exacerbated by the closure of the only humanitarian crossing in Rafah, limiting the ability to evacuate injured Gazans to Egypt, further worsening the emergency situation in the area. The healthcare system in Gaza, already weakened by years of blockade and recurrent conflicts, is on the brink of collapse. The shortage of medical supplies, the destruction of hospital infrastructure, and the closure of key health centers due to bombings have left the population without access to necessary medical care at a critical moment. The WHO has confirmed that the only partially operational hospital in Rafah had to close its doors this week, aggravating the health crisis in the region. Meanwhile, the Israeli army continues its operations in the Gaza Strip, carrying out selective bombings in different areas, citing the search for military targets and the destruction of infrastructure used by armed groups. However, the escalation of violence has also claimed the lives of innocent civilians, such as a woman and a baby in the city of Gaza, adding to the long list of fatalities in this endless conflict. The recent attacks in Gaza have left indelible scars on the population, especially in areas like Jabalia, where civil defense teams have recovered 120 bodies in recent days, following an Israeli military incursion that has left the refugee camp in ruins. The devastation and suffering in Gaza are palpable, while the international community and calls for peace seem insufficient to stop the spiral of violence that consumes lives day after day in the region. In this heartbreaking context, the urgency to end the war in Gaza becomes more evident than ever. As the numbers of victims continue to rise and desperation grips the population, it is imperative to intensify diplomatic efforts and seek ways to achieve a solution that ends the violence and lays the groundwork for reconstruction and lasting peace in the region. Humanity cannot afford more losses and suffering in Gaza, it is time to act with determination and empathy to stop this seemingly endless tragedy.
