We are getting closer to enjoying the Copa America 2024, one of the most anticipated sporting events of the year. The best footballers from South America will face each other defending the colors of their respective national teams, so we can expect highly attractive and exciting matches. In relation to this, we will tell you which channel will exclusively broadcast the 32 matches of the continental tournament, including those of the Peruvian national team. DSports, the sports channel of DirecTV, will be responsible for broadcasting all the matches of the Copa America 2024. It is worth mentioning that there will be a total of 25 days of competition where fans of the beautiful game will enjoy to the fullest. Moreover, countries like Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Uruguay will be able to watch the matches with local journalists providing commentary and narration. This will definitely be a bonus for South American football fans. The Copa America 2024 will take place from June 20th and will end on July 14th. In this way, Conmebol has determined that there will be 16 participating teams, with 10 teams from the continent and six invited representatives from Concacaf divided into four groups. Since its creation in 1916, Uruguay and Argentina are the national teams with the most titles in the Copa America, each having a total of 15 trophies. The Brazilian national team follows with 9 championships in their showcase. Additionally, there are Peru (2), Paraguay (2), Chile (2), Colombia (1), and Bolivia (1). Therefore, Ecuador and Venezuela have unfortunately never won this important continental tournament. Venezuela and Ecuador have not had the opportunity to reach a final of the tournament and at best both have finished in fourth place. As for the Bolivian national team, this happened on two occasions, in 1959 and 1993. Meanwhile, the Venezuelan team managed to reach the semifinals and finished in fourth place in the 2011 Copa America, which was one of their best performances. The 10 teams associated with CONMEBOL plus 6 invited teams as part of the alliance initiated with CONCACAF will be part of the forty-eighth edition of the Copa America 2024, starting in June with a new format and the addition of new items to the official tournament regulations, as reflected in article 96 approving the use of an additional pink card. The reason for the unprecedented decision by the South American governing body, according to official information shared on May 21st, lies in the implementation of an "extra substitution in case of suspected cranioencephalic trauma and concussion", meaning adding a sixth change to "protect the health of the players". As stated by CONMEBOL in the text of article 96 of the regulations established for the Copa America 2024, the pink card will only be used by the main referee upon notice from the medical staff certifying the player's condition and potential inability to continue playing. "It will be possible to make up to 1 (one) substitution per team per match in case of suspected cranioencephalic trauma and concussion, regardless of the 5 substitutions mentioned in the previous article of this Regulation," indicates the new paragraph added from this continental edition. It is also important to note that "if a normal substitution is made at the same time as a substitution for a concussion, one substitution opportunity will be deducted." Regarding recent modifications and approved adjustments related to the Copa America 2024, CONMEBOL has also decided to increase "up to a maximum of 26 players on the goodwill list for the continental competition," meaning that all teams can register that number of players, maintaining a total of 50 people as part of the delegation whose coverage is the responsibility of the event organization.
