On President Dina Boluarte's wrist Days go by and the situation of the - or the? - Rolex of President Dina Boluarte is unnecessarily complicating the political stability of the country and the Presidency of the Republic itself. An issue that could be considered trivial is growing without anything or anyone willing to stop this ball heading straight for the goal. If the president has nothing to hide, she must settle this matter as soon as possible. The only way out of this mess is to provide clear and accurate answers about the origin of the items. The delay in giving a truthful and decisive clarification suggests that there are no arguments to extinguish this fire. For now, the Public Prosecutor's Office has already initiated a preliminary investigation for alleged illicit enrichment and omission in the sworn statement, and they have requested from the Prime Minister, Gustavo Adrianzén, all the payment receipts of President Boluarte since 2021, when she entered the Executive as a minister. Beyond the omission or not of the watches, it is worth pausing to consider Boluarte's declarations to the comptroller since 2021, in the category of movable and immovable property: the sum of S/462,968, an amount that remains in the latest declaration of 2023. It is in the category of "other assets and income" where there is a notable increase, going from S/160,415 in 2021 to S/593,347 in 2023. There are several issues that need clarification: how and when were they acquired? And, if they were a gift, who gave it to her? Was it someone expecting a favor from the Government? Regarding the generous donor, it is said to be a regional governor, and based on the data from the wallet in question, a northern authority and frequent visitor to the Government Palace would be the main suspect. And why are we only now learning about these items? This raises another question that leads us to look at a former Chief of Staff who may still be holding a grudge and sending a message to his former boss and ally. The ball keeps rolling and now Perú Libre is starting to promote a motion of presidential vacancy, which we know how they start, but never how they end, and the Fuerza Popular party, which has been a support for the Government in Parliament, has started to distance itself, arguing that there is no clear and decisive response from the president. And so we continue immersed in an issue that should have been clarified long ago. On April 3, the head of the Cabinet, Gustavo Adrianzén, will go to Congress to ask for a vote of confidence for his ministerial team, and it would be unfortunate if by then the debate shifted to this issue, due to the lack of satisfactory answers. Meanwhile, those who seek early elections - which would be terrible for the country - continue to applaud from the stands; Antauro Humala, spreading a delusional speech throughout the country; and citizen insecurity at its worst.
