Peruvian exports continue to grow during the current year, reaching a figure of US$ 5.263 billion in the month of January, according to the report presented by the Association of Exporters (Adex). This data represents a 12.6% increase compared to the same period of the previous year, thus consolidating a positive performance for the country. The president of Adex, Julio Pérez, highlighted the joint effort made by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), PromPerú, and Peruvian companies to overcome the challenges both internally and externally that arose last year. Despite the difficulties, exports managed to close positively, although it is recognized that there is still room for improvement, especially in the non-traditional export sector. Pérez expressed optimism regarding the future of the export sector, emphasizing the quality of Peruvian products that are gaining recognition internationally. However, he called on the new cabinet led by Gustavo Adrianzén to work on economic reactivation, legal stability, and public security, aspects he considers fundamental for the sustainable development of the country. According to the Export Report from the Adex Global Business and Economics Research Center, traditional exports accounted for a high percentage of the total exported in January, amounting to nearly US$ 3.586 billion, which is equivalent to 68.1% of the total. Mining emerged as the main activity in this sector, with a 20.9% increase driven mainly by copper and gold shipments. Regarding exports with added value, there was a 9.3% growth, reaching nearly US$ 1.677 billion. Sectors such as agribusiness, the chemical industry, and metallurgy stood out for closing positively, while others like textiles, garments, and direct human consumption fishing experienced setbacks. In the case of destinations for Peruvian exports, China positioned itself as the main recipient, followed by countries such as Canada, Japan, India, Switzerland, and the United States, among others. These data reflect the diversification of markets that Peru can access, which contributes to strengthening its presence internationally. In summary, the Peruvian export sector shows encouraging signs at the beginning of this year, which is the result of the joint work between the public and private sectors. However, it is necessary to continue focusing efforts on strengthening economic reactivation, providing legal security, and ensuring stability to continue boosting exports and the overall development of the country.
