Politics

Amidst the political instability that the country is going through, a survey conducted by International Idea revealed that a concerning 86% of Peruvians consider that the political crisis is affecting their daily lives. This figure practically represents nine out of ten citizens, highlighting the significant impact that the political situation has on the population. According to the survey results, the main way in which the political crisis affects Peruvians is through the economy of their households, as indicated by the majority of respondents. Additionally, the increase in the sense of insecurity and the difficulty in accessing public services were also highlighted as consequences of this crisis. Widespread corruption is identified as the main cause of the political crisis, according to 70% of the respondents, followed by the incompetence of the authorities, mentioned by 35%. These perceptions reflect the distrust and discomfort of the population towards political leaders and institutions in the country. Political analyst Paolo Sosa emphasized that the concern is not only focused on legal or institutional aspects, but there is a sense of paralysis and stagnation due to the lack of response to the population's needs. This situation creates a kind of "dangerous paradox", as despite recognizing the impact of the crisis, many citizens feel powerless to do anything about it. On the other hand, Alejandra Costa, Economics curator of the Reading Committee, pointed out that political uncertainty has had a negative effect on the country's economy, preventing economic agents from making important decisions. This situation not only hinders the creation of quality employment but also contributes to the state paralysis that prevents the implementation of measures to alleviate poverty in the country. In this context, Costa called for the need to implement significant political reforms to achieve sustainable economic recovery and improve the living conditions of the population. Otherwise, the Peruvian economy will continue to face challenges and obstacles that could prolong the current crisis. It is evident that the political crisis in Peru not only affects the functioning of institutions but also directly impacts the lives of citizens, creating an atmosphere of uncertainty and distrust that hinders the development and well-being of society as a whole.
