The Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) of Peru is in full swing to promote the country as an attractive destination for foreign investment in the mining sector. Rómulo Mucho, head of Minem, will lead the Peruvian delegation at the PDAC 2024 Mining Convention in Toronto, Canada, with the aim of showcasing the progress made in terms of strategic simplification and unlocking investments in Peru. In a context where the country is positioned as the world's second largest producer of copper and silver, Mucho seeks to revitalize investor interest following a decrease in sector investments in 2023, due to the political crisis that triggered protests and activity disruptions last year. During his participation in the convention, the minister will inaugurate the Peruvian Pavilion, a space that will provide updated information for foreign investors interested in the country. Additionally, Mucho will hold meetings with officials from the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry of Japan, attend interviews about projects and initiatives in Peru, and participate in various meetings and events aimed at promoting investment opportunities in the Peruvian mining sector. On Sunday, the "Peruvian kick off" and the 2024 Intersectoral Meeting of the Annual Conference of Ministers of Mining of the Americas (CAMMA) will be highlighted, where crucial topics for mining development in the region will be discussed. On Monday, Mucho will lead the "Peru Day" and participate in the Ninth International Summit of Ministers of Mines 2024, while on Tuesday, he will be present at the opening of the Toronto Stock Exchange, meetings with sector leaders, and events with international investors. The Peruvian minister's agenda will conclude on Wednesday with the presentation of the 75 projects in Peru's Mining Exploration Portfolio to representatives of international mining companies, highlighting the commitment to modernity and sustainability standards in the development of mining projects, considering both the population and the environment. Peru's participation in the PDAC 2024 Mining Convention is a key opportunity to reaffirm its mining potential and attract investments that will drive the country's growth and sustainable development in this important sector.
