The Congress of Mexico has initiated an important debate around the package of constitutional reforms presented by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador on February 5th. This discussion, which will extend until April 15th, aims to address fundamental issues for the country in various dialogue forums. The inauguration of the 'National Dialogue Forums. Join the debate on reforms for freedom, well-being, justice, and democracy' at the Legislative Palace of San Lázaro, carried out by the Political Coordination Board (Jucopo) of the Chamber of Deputies, marks the beginning of a process characterized by tolerance and a willingness to listen and consider the different opinions at play. Various political actors have expressed their commitment to this dialogue. The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Marcela Guerra Castillo, of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), emphasized the importance of this inclusive process, while Deputy Jorge Romero Herrera of the National Action Party (PAN) acknowledged the readiness of all parliamentary groups to address these reforms of vital importance to the country. From the National Regeneration Movement (Morena), coordinator Ignacio Mier Velasco pointed out the intention to promote an open and frank dialogue, without giving up convictions and values. On the other hand, Deputy Braulio López, from the Citizens' Movement, expressed his parliamentary group's willingness to seriously debate the proposals, without engaging in dialogues that are considered simulations. It is important to note that these forums will involve the participation of representatives from the Senate, local congresses, and the ordinary committees of the Chamber of Deputies, aiming to enrich the debate with different perspectives and voices. The reforms proposed by López Obrador cover crucial topics such as increasing the minimum wage above inflation, the election of judges and electoral councilors, as well as judges and ministers of the Supreme Court through popular vote. These constitutional changes pose challenges and opportunities for the country's future, making their discussion and analysis in these forums essential for Mexico's democratic and social development.
