The Spanish Athletics Federation has announced the pre-list of athletes called up to represent Spain in the upcoming Indoor Track and Field World Championships to be held in Glasgow from March 1 to 3. Among the 11 selected athletes is Adel Mechaal, who will lead the Spanish expedition in search of outstanding performances in the competition. Coach Pepe Peiró has revealed the names of the 11 athletes (6 men and 5 women) who will make up the Spanish team at this important athletics event. In disciplines such as the 800m, 1,500m, 60m hurdles, 60m sprint, and Pentathlon, Spain will be represented by prominent athletes like Mariano García, Esther Guerrero, Enrique Llopis, Jael Bestué, and María Vicente, among others. It is worth noting that the list of selected athletes could still be expanded to a maximum of 20, depending on their World Ranking. Additionally, the reserve athletes have been announced who could be called in case of any last-minute dropouts, including names like Ana Peleteiro and Fátima Diame. Coach Peiró has acknowledged the difficulty of leaving out standout athletes like Adrián Ben and María Vicente. In Ben's case, Peiró mentioned that the decision was tough due to the athlete's track record, but he believed the current selection was the fairest. Regarding María Vicente, it is hoped that the young athlete will focus on the upcoming Olympic Games and return with a stellar performance. The Spanish team is preparing with enthusiasm and determination to compete in the Indoor Track and Field World Championships, aiming to uphold Spain's name and achieve outstanding performances in Glasgow. With talented and experienced athletes, it is expected that the Spanish expedition will achieve success at this important international athletics event.
