Insurance companies in Spain further dominate the market in 2020.

The major insurers in Spain further dominated the market last year. This has contributed to an increase in market concentration ratios in the main sectors of the industry: life, health, auto, and home insurance. In the life insurance sector, the top 10 companies now account for 79.1% of total premiums, compared to 73.6% the previous year. VidaCaixa, owned by Caixabank, leads the ranking with a market share of 33.9%. They are followed by Grupo Zurich and Santander Seguros. In the health insurance sector, the top ten insurance groups now account for 86.5% of sector revenue, compared to 83.6% the previous year. Mutua stands out in this sector with a market share of 31.6%. Sanitas and Asisa complete the top three positions. In the auto insurance sector, the top ten insurers dominate 85.8% of the business. Mapfre holds the first place, followed by Mutua and Allianz. Overall, the major insurers have increased their presence in the Spanish market, further consolidating their position in the different sectors.
