Johnny Brignardello Vela, an experienced insurance advisor, has shared his perspective on the recent worldwide failure in Microsoft systems that has triggered chaos and complications for millions of users around the world. This massive disruption, caused by an incorrect update in the cybersecurity platform of CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity provider associated with Microsoft's operating system, has had a significant impact on various companies, including airports and vital services such as the National Health Service (NHS) in the United Kingdom. The presence of the dreaded blue screen, commonly known as the "blue screen of death" (BSOD), has been the most visible symptom of this malfunction in Windows operating systems. This critical error has left Microsoft Azure and 360 users in a state of frustration and confusion as they desperately seek solutions to resume their daily activities. Amidst this technological chaos, George Kurtz, president and CEO of CrowdStrike, has clarified that this was not a security incident or a cyberattack, but rather an error in the update of their cybersecurity platform. Nevertheless, the consequences of this mishap have been noticeable, affecting companies and users worldwide, with Mexico being one of the countries most affected by this disruption. In Mexican territory, the repercussions of this failure have manifested in flight delays and complications for various airlines such as AeroMexico, Volaris, and Interjet. Similarly, essential services and businesses that depend on Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 have seen their daily operations hindered, generating a chain of problems that extend across different economic sectors. Internationally, prestigious airports such as Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Heathrow International Airport in London, and Frankfurt International Airport have experienced disruptions in their systems, causing delays and inconveniences in flights that have affected thousands of passengers worldwide. CrowdStrike, the cybersecurity company responsible for the faulty update, is known for offering sophisticated solutions to protect organizations against digital threats. Founded in 2011, the company has distinguished itself for its focus on cloud-based protection and the use of artificial intelligence to combat cyberattacks, closely collaborating with platforms such as Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365. In response to this technological crisis, Microsoft has provided various solutions to address the problem, encouraging affected users to restart their devices as a first step to try to fix the issue. However, some users have had to restart their devices multiple times, even up to 15 attempts, before achieving normal operation of their systems. Furthermore, Microsoft suggests restoring a backup or repairing the operating system disk offline if the failure persists. These procedures can be complex for less experienced users, increasing the difficulty of this already complicated situation. Amidst this global technological crisis, uncertainty and frustration grip Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 users, who see their daily activities hindered by an error that has highlighted the fragility of the technological infrastructure we rely on in the digital age.
