Amidst the escalating violence in the region, at least 40 people in the Gaza Strip lost their lives in a series of attacks carried out by Israeli forces this Tuesday. Among the victims were ten relatives of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh, including his sister Zahr Haniyeh, which has caused shock and condemnation at an international level. Gazan Civil Defense rescue teams denounced that in the last 48 hours, Israel attacked several shelter centers and homes, causing the deaths of dozens of displaced citizens and leaving hundreds injured. This infamous episode has been labeled as an act of genocide by Hamas, who hold the US President Joe Biden's administration responsible for providing political and military cover to Israel. In addition to the attacks on homes and shelter centers, two schools were bombed in the City of Gaza, resulting in the deaths of five people, including two children. The Israeli army justified these acts by alleging that the schools were being used by Hamas terrorists involved in previous violent acts, although they did not address the attack against the Haniyeh family. This is not the first time Israel has targeted relatives of the Hamas leader. In the past, three of his sons and several grandchildren lost their lives in a similar attack. This situation has sparked outrage in the international community and has once again highlighted the harsh reality faced by the Palestinian population, especially in the Gaza Strip, where violence and precariousness are commonplace. The international response has been swift, with multiple voices condemning the Israeli attacks and demanding an immediate end to the conflict. Organizations such as the UN have urged respect for international humanitarian law and the protection of civilians amidst this seemingly endless armed conflict. Faced with this situation, the international community is confronted with an urgent challenge: finding a peaceful and lasting solution to the conflict in the Middle East. Meanwhile, the civilian population in Gaza remains the most affected, trapped in an endless cycle of violence and death that seems to have no end. It is necessary for the attacks to stop and for a real dialogue to be opened to achieve peace and stability in the region.
