Policy based on Christian principles: a proposal of service and solidarity

The politics based on Christian principles is a topic that has been in constant debate in today's society. From the perspective of some political leaders, such as the mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima (MML), a perspective is proposed in which faith in Christ guides decisions and actions in the political sphere. According to this approach, politics should be oriented towards protecting fundamental values such as life, family, freedom, and private property, all within a framework of solidarity and brotherhood towards the most vulnerable in society. This approach also seeks economic development through state intervention in sectors with growth potential, as has been the case in Chile with salmon farming and exportation, as well as in the production of cellulose and processed wood. The proposal of public policies based on Christian principles includes the elimination of abuses of monopolistic positions in various economic sectors, as well as the promotion of formalization of informal activities to ensure fair labor conditions. Examples like the National Company of Informal Mining (Enami) in Chile demonstrate how the state can intervene effectively to address specific issues and promote equitable development. In this sense, issues such as fighting corruption, promoting public safety, improving infrastructure, and access to basic services like education and health are fundamental pillars of this government proposal. Prioritizing policies that address the needs of the most vulnerable sectors of society is a central commitment in this political vision. Active participation in politics, from a perspective of service and sacrifice, is seen as an opportunity to generate a positive impact on the community. In the case of the mayor of the MML, his work focuses on combating urgent problems such as malnutrition, lack of water, insecurity, and lack of infrastructure, with the goal of improving the quality of life of the most needy citizens. The modification of the statute of Renovación Popular, which establishes mechanisms of internal democracy in decision-making, reinforces transparency and participation within the political party. This democratic and participative approach seeks to strengthen representativeness and coherence in political actions, ensuring greater legitimacy in public management. In a context where corruption and inequality remain significant challenges, the proposal of a politics based on Christian values seeks to make a difference, prioritizing the well-being of the most vulnerable and promoting justice and solidarity in all governmental actions. The commitment to public service as a way to contribute to the common good and integral development of society is the fundamental pillar of this political vision, which aims to transcend beyond personal or partisan interests.
